Adobe and FedEx have announced a multi-year partnership that brings ShopRunner into Adobe Commerce. Merchants get access to FedEx delivery with free two-day shipping.
What ShopRunner is
FedEx's membership delivery programme. Members get free two-day shipping, free returns, dedicated support and member promotions.
The reason it matters is the oldest one in eCommerce: unexpected shipping costs are a leading cause of abandoned carts. Taking the shipping line off the total removes the moment where the basket stops feeling like a good idea.
How the integration works
ShopRunner sits inside Adobe Commerce's shipping configuration. Merchants are opted in automatically rather than going through a lengthy setup, and qualifying purchases show ShopRunner options at checkout.
What merchants get
Free shipping reduces abandonment and increases volume 10-15%. Members come back more often. FedEx handles the logistics, and ShopRunner branding is available to merchants who want to advertise it.
What this means for you
This is the same pattern as search and personalisation before it: capability that used to be an integration project now arrives as a setting. Which is worth thinking about the other way round too, because your competitors have the same setting.
