Live Search is generally available for Adobe Commerce

Live Search is now generally available for Adobe Commerce (Magento). It uses Adobe Sensei to return results as the customer types, and it is included with the Adobe Commerce subscription.

What it does

Traditional site search matches keywords. Live Search works on intent and context, and returns products in real time as someone types rather than after a page reload. The difference shows up most in the queries keyword matching handles badly — plurals, synonyms, half-finished words.

Four things come with it at launch:

  • AI-driven instant results as customers type, with no page reload in the way.

  • Merchandising control to boost or bury products by business goal, seasonal promotion or stock level, without touching code.

  • Analytics showing which searches drive conversions, which queries return nothing at all and where customers abandon. The zero-result list is usually the most useful document in the building.

  • Integration with Adobe Commerce that stands up without extensive customisation.

Why search earns the attention

Search is where intent is highest. A customer using it has already told you what they want, so a poor result is a sale you had almost made. Adobe reports that early testing showed improvements in search-driven revenue, lower bounce rates and better customer satisfaction.

What this means for you

Live Search is available through the Adobe Commerce subscription, which makes the cost question a short one for most merchants. Start with your own numbers: if a meaningful share of your searches return nothing, or your search conversion sits well below your category-browse conversion, this is the cheapest improvement on your list. We can help you set it up and tune the merchandising rules around it.
