Adobe used Summit 2021 to announce two additions to Adobe Commerce: Live Search and Product Recommendations, both running on Adobe Sensei.
Live Search
Live Search applies natural language processing and machine learning to the search box, so it can work out what a shopper means rather than only matching attribute values.
What comes with it: typo tolerance, synonym handling, category intelligence, visual merchandising rules and search analytics. Adobe puts the conversion uplift at up to 6%.
Product Recommendations
Product Recommendations generates personalised suggestions across the journey, reading signals like viewing history, cart contents and on-site behaviour, and adjusting as that behaviour changes. Merchants report average order value lifts of 20-25%.
How they fit in
Both are built into Adobe Commerce. That means no third-party hop in the request path, customer data staying inside Commerce, analytics in the same place as the rest of your reporting, and configuration from the admin rather than a separate console.
What this means for you
The interesting part is not the AI. It is that this class of search and recommendation now ships with the platform, so getting it live is a configuration and merchandising job rather than a data pipeline project.
