Adobe Payment Services now supports Adobe Commerce (Magento) 2.4.8 and PHP 8.4, announced in February 2025. If payments were the reason your upgrade was not booked in, that reason has gone.
What is certified
Payment Services has been tested against Adobe Commerce 2.4.8 across monolithic, microservices and headless architectures, and keeps full compatibility with all supported payment methods and features. PHP 8.4 support covers the runtime's modern type declarations, with the performance work landing where payments actually spend their time — validation and tokenisation.
Why it matters to an upgrade plan
Payments are usually the blocker in an upgrade conversation, and reasonably so. Nobody wants to find out on go-live day that a payment method behaves differently. With 2.4.8 and PHP 8.4 certified, Payment Services stops being a dependency you work around and becomes one you can plan through.
That means you can move to 2.4.8, pick up the platform's security and performance work, and stay inside vendor support without holding your payment stack back.
If you are on an earlier version
Nothing forces the move today. Fold it into the modernisation work you already have planned, and sequence Payment Services alongside the platform upgrade rather than after it — the testing overlaps almost entirely, so doing them together costs less than doing them twice.
When you do plan it, test payments end to end in staging on the same PHP version you will run in production. Payment behaviour is the last place you want a version-specific surprise.
