In November 2022 Adobe renamed the Experience Platform Connector extension to Data Connection. The rebrand came with bundled dependencies and a shorter installation, so it was not only a name change.
Why rename it
The original name was ambiguous. Data Connection says what it does: it connects commerce data to the Adobe ecosystem. The simpler name also reflected an extension that had grown up.
Bundled dependencies
Previously you installed Data Connection and the commerce-data-export module separately. With the rebrand, commerce-data-export came bundled as a dependency. Setup time dropped from 30 minutes to 5 minutes.
Simplified installation
Install Data Connection via Composer and the system configures the rest.
What this means for you
If you had been putting the connection off because setup looked like a project, it stopped being one. A clearer name and one fewer module to wire up is not a headline feature — it is just less to get wrong.
