Adobe discontinued the Amazon Sales Channel extension for Adobe Commerce (Magento) on October 1, 2024. It follows the Walmart Channel Manager discontinuation earlier in the year, and the reasoning is the same: Adobe keeps its investment on core platform capabilities, and specialist providers handle marketplace integration.
The timeline
Merchants using Amazon Sales Channel got advance notice and a transition period, with support continuing through the announced end date. There was room to migrate without interrupting Amazon channel operations.
Why Adobe made the call
Amazon's marketplace API is sophisticated and changes constantly. Keeping a first-rate integration current is a specialist job, not a side project. Adobe took the view that dedicated Amazon-focused integration providers deliver better value, and put its own development effort where it has more to offer.
What to move to
Look at established Amazon integration platforms — DataLogic, Sellerbot and other marketplace specialists. They typically bring advanced inventory syncing, more sophisticated pricing rules, Amazon-specific analytics, rapid API updates when Amazon changes something, and support teams who only do Amazon.
Planning the migration
Take the free trials and compare properly. Test the integration with non-production data first. Pick a cutover in a lower traffic period, tell Amazon seller support you are changing channels, and validate that every critical function is genuinely replicated before you switch the old one off.
The pattern
Two marketplace integrations retired within months is not a retreat — it is a market maturing. Specialist integration companies have built better tools by doing one thing, and platforms are increasingly comfortable partnering rather than competing. As the merchant, you end up with the better product.
