Support for the Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 line ends on August 11, 2026. Extended support for 2.4.5 ends on the same day. 2.4.4 already went, on April 14, 2026.
That is three release lines closing inside five months, and between them they still cover a lot of live stores.
What ending support means
No new security patches, no quality fixes, no official technical support for that line. Nothing stops working — 2.4.6 shipped on March 14, 2023 and it will keep taking orders on August 12 exactly as it did on August 10.
The problem is what happens next time there is an APSB bulletin. Everyone on a supported line applies a patch; you read the bulletin and have nothing to apply. Given APSB26-73 on July 14, 2026 included a vulnerability rated 10.0, that is not a theoretical position to be in.
Where to go
2.4.9 shipped on May 12, 2026 and is the current line, which makes it the sensible target for most merchants — going to an older supported version buys you a shorter runway and roughly the same amount of work.
Be realistic about the scope, though. 2.4.9 removed TinyMCE, Laminas MVC and Zend_Cache, and raised the PHP floor. Coming from 2.4.6 that is a genuine project: a dependency audit, hosting changes, and a proper regression pass. It is not a weekend.
If you have left it late
You are not the only one, and missing the date by a few weeks is not a crisis — the risk builds gradually rather than arriving on the 11th.
What we would not do is rush a major upgrade to hit a date and take a bad launch instead. Better to apply the last patches available to you, get the upgrade scoped properly, and run it on a timeline that does not put your peak trading period in the blast radius. If you are heading into a Q4 freeze, that maths matters more than the deadline itself.
