Magento Commerce is now Adobe Commerce

Magento Commerce becomes Adobe Commerce. The open-source edition keeps the Magento name, and nothing in your build changes.

Magento Commerce is now Adobe Commerce. The open-source edition keeps the Magento name.

What changed

Two product names going forward: Adobe Commerce, the cloud-hosted edition formerly called Magento Commerce, and Magento Open Source. The rename puts Commerce alongside Analytics, Target and Campaign inside Adobe's Digital Experience Cloud.

What did not

Everything that runs your store. Functionality, API compatibility, extensions and upgrade paths are all unchanged. This is a name on a box, not a migration.

Why Adobe did it

Three reasons, all of them about positioning: tighter integration with the rest of the Adobe stack, a clearer story for enterprise buyers, and a name that fits headless and composable architectures rather than one that reads as a single monolithic application.

What it means for you

Adobe is working through its documentation and support portals, so expect the old names to linger in places for a while yet. Agencies like us are Adobe Commerce Partners now. The badge changed; the people who know your build did not.

Open Source stays Magento

The open-source edition keeps the Magento brand, which is the right call given that the community around it built the reputation in the first place.
