Adobe Summit 2024 in March was mostly about two things for the commerce ecosystem: generative AI, and Edge Delivery Services as a new foundation for building storefronts. Read together, they tell you where Adobe is putting its effort — AI and performance, at the core rather than at the edges of the product.
Generative AI for merchants
Adobe introduced generative AI capabilities built specifically for commerce merchants: automated product descriptions, dynamic content generation and intelligent customer communication. The use case is personalising at scale, tidying up product copy, and taking routine content work off someone's desk.
The design intent is that you do not need AI expertise to use it. The interfaces are aimed at merchants, and the output is meant to sit inside your brand voice rather than fight it.
Edge Delivery Services for commerce
Edge Delivery Services moves computation and content delivery to edge locations closer to your customers, which improves page load times and Core Web Vitals scores. Adobe is pointing at Lighthouse scores approaching 100, with meaningfully less complexity than a traditional storefront architecture.
Why it matters
Performance drives conversion — that is settled, not a claim. Pairing generative AI for content throughput with Edge Delivery Services for speed puts capability that used to need an enterprise budget within reach of smaller merchants.
What this means for you
If you are planning a storefront rebuild in the next year, both of these belong in the conversation before you commit to an architecture. Together they put Adobe Commerce (Magento) on a different footing for the next generation of builds — and the earlier you factor them in, the less you undo later.
